My first formal photography training was all in 35mm film processing and darkroom techniques. I immediately got hooked to alchemical magic and unexpected surprises developing a roll of film. Living my mad-scientist fantasy as I sloshed around my prints in developer. Creating images that are corporeal and physical, not just megabytes on a memory card. It’s the absolute best.
I still keep that passion alive by bringing my 35mm analog camera to most of my sessions and shooting a few rolls of film.
In addition to keeping a classic art form alive and providing clients with images that give off that Brooklyn-cool-kid aesthetic, snapping some images on a roll of film always re-centers my mind and brings me back to basics when I need it.
