There’s something about Astoria, Queens. It’s ethnically diverse, has a distinct New York City feel without quite all the noise, serves up some amazing food — and also attracts some really cool people. I’m not saying I’m one of those cool people as a resident of Astoria, but Maggie and Zach definitely are. In the few months I have been working with them, they introduced me to my two favorite bars, organized a wedding entrance in a glass elevator, and most importantly did this super badass Astoria engagement shoot with me before their wedding.
We hit up a bunch of the best spots in Long Island City, from Astoria Park to their favorite drink spot The Bonnie and even the NQ Train stop at Astoria Boulevard for their engagement session. Even though our entire romp through the autumn leaves was great, I especially enjoyed going up to their building’s roof at sunset, not only because it was gorgeous but also where Zach popped the question. Can you say adorable?
Hell’s Gate Bridge may have a tragic past, but as someone who loves the symmetry of arches I couldn’t resist a few snaps underneath it.
Stopping in a couple’s favorite bar is always a great idea to get a snack and little liquid courage. It helped that the Bonnie is so cool!
We made this subway stop cool before it was in Spider-Man.
