What little girl doesn’t have a dream that they’ll get married in a castle? I was never a little girl, but after photographing Jenn and John’s wedding at Reid Castle of Manhattanville College, it is definitely a fantasy of mine.
Jenn and John were absolutely darling from the first time I had coffee with them, both unassuming and generous with their kindness and love for each other. (Side note: when I meet with a couple and they naturally hold hands without even thinking about it, I get giddy.) When these younger folks told me then that they were having a black tie wedding in a castle in Westchester, I was shocked it sounded so swanky and – well, I’ll say it, uppity. However, I didn’t know that the laid back staff and their raucous crew of friends would make sure that even the most formal setting felt intimate and fun.
Jenn and John had a blast getting ready with their closest friends, especially the ladies who popped stuff off with personal champagne bottles. They had a beautiful ceremony, drenched in afternoon sunlight. The most touching aspect of the service was John’s father leading the sermon and eventually pronouncing them married.
From there we did some goofy photos with their bridal party, and then ventured to Manhattanville College‘s old chapel for some more shots. Here’s a little secret: the photos look beautiful and intimate, but for still unknown reasons the chapel had late 90’s pop blasting through wireless speakers, making us all laugh uncontrollably. The laughter continued as they partied and danced late into the night, with the occasional break to snap a photo in the extraordinary Reid Castle.
